The Bible's view on how life started

The Bible’s opening verse is “In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth”. Moses (Exodus 20:11), Christ (Matthew 19:4-5) and Paul (1 Corinthians 15:45) all believed that the early chapters of Genesis are a literal record of the beginning of mankind taking six actual days to accomplish. The theory of Evolution has no support in the Bible. God used His spirit power to create and sustain all things (Genesis 1:2; Psalms 104:30; Job 33:4; 34:14-15).

The purpose of the creation was so that the earth would be filled with people that can think like God (Genesis 1:26-28; Isaiah 45:18). Man was created a “living soul” (Genesis 2:7). The Hebrew for soul means that he was a creature capable of breathing. The same phrase is used of the animals (Genesis 1:21, 24; 2:19). Like the animals we do not have immortal souls when we are born - immortality is something that God gives to those who faithfully serve Him (1 Corinthians 15:45-54).

God provided a companion for Adam who would work with him to achieve God’s purpose (Genesis 2:18). Marriage is an arrangement that would help provide the children God wanted (Malachi 2:14-15). It is also a parable of the believers’ relationship with Christ (Ephesians 5:22-33; Revelation 19:7-9).

When God had finished creating He said that everything He made was very good (Genesis 1:31). It was in perfect harmony with His purpose. Unfortunately, this didn’t last when Adam and Eve were given a test of their obedience.
