Jesus Christ - His Return and The Kingdom

The Bible's view on why Jesus will return to earth

When Christ ascended into heaven, the apostles were told that he would return to earth again (Acts 1:11). Christ also said that he would return in the parable of the pounds (Luke 19:12). The same parable taught that Christ would reward his servants that had been faithful while they waited for him and punish those who were not (Luke 19:13-27).

Before people can be judged, those who have died will be resurrected (John 5:28-29). This resurrection happens when Christ returns (1 Corinthians 15:20-23). It is then that those who have been accepted by God will be given eternal life (1 Corinthians 15:51-54). Those who did not obey the gospel will be destroyed forever (2 Thessalonians 1:7-10).

All nations will eventually submit themselves to Christ’s authority (Psalm 72:11). Christ and the immortalised believers will rule over the whole world (Revelation 11:15; 5:9-10). Jerusalem will be the capital city (Jeremiah 3:17). People will be taught God’s ways and there will be no more war (Micah 4:1-3).

The earth will also undergo enormous changes. Deserts will be changed to productive land (Isaiah 35:1-2,7). Everyone will have jobs and live in safety (Micah 4:5). There will be an abundance of food (Amos 9:13). Sicknesses will be cured (Isaiah 35:5-6).

You can be part of this kingdom, but it requires a commitment to really know God and Christ (John 17:3), to understand and believe the true Gospel and to be baptised (Mark 16:15-16). The Christadelphians would love to help you do this.
